Peace of mind and long-term security are often a big influence for customers and their families who decide to purchase a property through our shared ownership scheme. Having your own home offers freedom, choice, and control. Our part-buy, part-rent home ownership scheme is available to people with long-term disabilities who meet the eligibility criteria and have available funds. A specialist team are on-hand to guide new customers through the purchasing process. Housing Officers visit shared owners to welcome them to their new home and provide practical support and advice around tenancy issues, repairs, and maintenance.
Our support services help individuals to live independently and safely in the community. Support plans are designed around each person’s needs to give maximum choice and control. Our aim is to ensure every important person in our customers’ life gets to have their say in planning and reviewing goals and achievements. Making sure our customers are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities is important to us. Our staff are fully trained in safeguarding practices so they can provide support for each individuals’ health, wellbeing and human rights; enabling our customers to live free from harm, abuse and neglect.
We provide supported housing, specialising in housing, care, and support for people with a learning disability or with mental health conditions. Different types of properties give people the support and security they need to live the life they choose. Our housing is there for people who need it. Supported housing and shared housing offer safety and a sense of community. Referrals to Advance housing are through local councils. Our Housing Officers work with our tenants to explain their rights and responsibilities around paying rent and maintain tenancies. Our Housing Outreach Workers provide welfare support to tenants who need it.
Structured routines and consistent working practices by a specially trained team are two elements we introduce early into the lives of our customers with complex needs. Our Complex Needs specialists train staff to use person-centred methodologies and guide them to recognise an individual’s triggers by monitoring and recording behaviours. When an individual has behaviours that challenge, they can pose risk to themselves and others. We have been successful in using strategies like Positive Behaviour Support to reduce challenging behaviour and give individuals greater choice and control. With greater stability in a person’s life, comes a reduction in support costs.
